Durham Regional Science Fair
The Faculty of Science is hosting the annual Durham Regional Science Fair (DRSF) on Saturday April 11, 2026 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Business and Information Technology (BIT) Building at Ontario Tech University.
Students must compete at a regional science fair like DRSF in order to be eligible to be selected as a finalist at the Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF), the annual national science fair hosted by Youth Science Canada (YSC).
The DRSF is open to all students in Grades 4 to 12 who live in Durham Region (Ajax, Oshawa, Pickering, Whitby and the township of Brock, Scugog and Uxbridge) and who are students enrolled in public or private schools or are home-schooled. Participants do not have to participate (or win) at any other science fairs (e.g. at their schools, libraries or local organizations. They can enter the DRSF directly with a project that they have completed for school or done on their while pursuing a special interest. Projects on topics in science, technology, engineering, math, computer science, environmental science and sustainability are eligible to enter the DRSF.
After the set-up and judging of the projects in the morning (8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.), the Fair will be open to the public to visit the projects and talk with the participants from 1:30 to 3 p.m.. The fair will end with the awards ceremony from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and the announcement of the finalists who will represent Durham Region at the CWSF in Edmonton, Alberta, in May 2026.
