Stories in Colour Celebrating Black Arts and Literature

Join us for an afternoon celebrating Black Art and Literature where you can discover new genres and authors, and reflect on the power of storytelling. We’ll begin with a reading and book sharing session led by Spoken Word performer, Greg Frankson, from BlackLitDurham.  Participants are encouraged to bring a short excerpt of a book or poetry by a Black writer that resonates with them. Together, we’ll read, share, and discuss these works in an informal setting. In the second half of the event, we’ll transition into a hands-on art activity inspired by the style of well-konwn Black artists.  Paint, canvas and templates will be provided, and no art experience is needed, just an interest in creative expression and celebrating Black stories.

Snacks and supplies will be available. There will be a draw to win one of three books.  All students, staff, and faculty are welcome.
